Absolutely amazing!
I can hardly believe I am saying it but Boyneside Banty won the opening race on William Hill Greyhound Derby Finals night for Viking Racing, landing the sprint, on his first ever run at Wimbledon! He opened 8-1 and went out to 12-1, unfancied BUT NOT BY US!
Banty flew the traps and took a bump on the final bend, but battled back to win a head, in a decent time. It was absolutely amazing and a great way to start Derby finals night.
Banty was advised as a bet to Viking Racing members, here is what we told them;
18:55 Wimbledon Trap 6 BOYNESIDE BANTY
This is a heart bet rather than an objective look at the card, he hasn’t run at Wimbledon BUT the wide box may suit him. Certainly has a chance. How good would it be to open up the night with Banty winning!
It certainly was; this is what the Racing Post reported;
6.55: William Hill Sprint (Div B)
12-1 outsider Boyneside Banty, trained by Jim Hayton at Doncaster, runs on well to catch 8-1 chance Dooey Royal by a head in 16.39sec.
Get In.
The Derby was a great occasion and to be part of it was brilliant! We have a taste for it now, that is for sure and we will be looking for more success at Wimbledon. I have ordered the DVD of the race and some superb action shots of Banty will be coming, will post on the website.
