York Wednesday 16/5/12

 1-30 is a competitive handicap and there are plenty of good options. Pointers though are for FLAG OFFICER, namely trainers record here, Dettori is best jockey at York for a generation and there are good reports about this horse from Newmarket, BUT tough race, small bet.

2-00 is all about YORK GLORY. Going really well at home, looks to have everything in its favour OTHER than the going which is a question, would be a maximum bet but for the cut underfoot.

2-30- Musidora, Oaks trial. Should concern only THE FUGUE and TWIRL. Gosden’s filly is class, 4^th in the Guineas and will handle the going. Trip is the question.  Should get the 1m 2f, Twirkl should finish second. Reverse forecast looks a good bet here.

Can Hoof It Win At York?

3-00 York HOOF IT. Reports are that this horse is in cracking form at home. Ground the worry and would therefore urge you to reduce stakes. The going is a concern if you look at the form, so has to be taken in to account. Although Mick thinks it will be fine, the stats don’t agree, here is what Mick told the press;

“He’s in cracking order and he’s worked three times. We’ve taken him over to Tim Easterby’s and we’ve raced him on the grass at home, which was soft so he’s had his toe in. I am slightly worried that Mayson hasn’t done a thing wrong so far this year, but we’re going there with probably the horse to beat.  I think he’s the best horse in the race. I think his best form will be on good to firm ground this year, but it’s the same for everybody.  We’ve won races with cut in the ground before and it’s not that much of a worry for us. The ground is drying out and we’ve had people walk the track. We’re thinking it’s firmer than they’re suggesting.”

3-35 MICA MIKA is the bet here, small stakes, tough race, BUT could be on a good mark as we saw at Chester.

4-10 CUMBRIAN CRAIC is flying. Top horse. Only worry is HOOF ALONG, no info about it, but suggest would have to be very good on debut to upset CUMBRIAN CRAIC. Assuming Hoof Along is not a superstar then this is a PLATINUM BET.

4-40 Three Am Tour, form pick in a tough handicap.

Bany Back to Sheffield

On Sunday we have new dog Ballybrook making his debut. Tough race! We take on Debbie Calvert’s other dog Nifty Crash and the high class Bowtime Joey. He is a good dog and at 8/1 is worth a SMALL BET!

Consistency is so well named. He won at Sunderland last time and his form is the model of Consistency. Sadly today he faces a seriously good dog in the one box and he hasn’t got a good draw, so no bet but we will be there to cheer him on!

Robin Bastiman’s horses are running exceptionally well at the moment! Borderlescott was placed at 10/1 (advised) at Chester and Secret City was sure to go on what was very heavy going.

Will be run on desperate ground and there will be some flag starts again, BUT we have some very strong information today;

1.35 Chester PINTURA will love the ground and is a great bet at 6/1- take early price. Mud Lark. Owners no 1 jockey aboard.

2.05 Chester BONFIRE has Group 1 form on soft, but this is heavy, stable think they will win this race today.

2.35 there is no value in this race, neither horse has form on heavy and it is just a guess which will win. Connections will lump on Brown Panther and shorten price. Has won on soft but big difference, should win but NO BET advised.

3.05 Chester BALLESTEROS  is another mud lark and is strongly fancied by yard to win here. NAP

3.40 ground is key here and could spoil any gambles. Fahey yard landed us a 10/1 winner yesterday and have two runners, Viva Ronaldo is fit but ground is a worry. They fancy a big run. NO BET advised.

4.15 Chester LADY LOCH subject of a big word from the yard. Fahey says; “She’s in great order, gets the trip well, won’t mind the ground so I’m hoping she runs well.”  WELL FANCIED RUNNER!

4.45 is a very poor handicap. NO Bet advised.
