The Ground Situation is a Joke!

In 6 years full time professionally punting for a living I have never seen the ground on the flat this bad.

York in the Sunshine is Superb

I am not making excuses, though I would like to point out how we are being stitched up. As at 14:30 on Thursday this is the official going reports;

Ascot – Soft
Chester – Soft, Good to Soft in places
Hamilton Park – Good to Soft, Good in places
Lingfield Park – Standard
Market Rasen – Hurdles – Good, G/S in plcs, Chase – Good to Soft
Nottingham – Soft
Ripon – Good to Soft

Good to Soft at Ripon? at 3-30pm the meeting was called off for waterlogged track! Do these people not realise we rely on their information for punting?

There is no way on Earth that Chester is Soft! The ground is bottomless and they cant use the stalls.  This is a JOKE! They are doing this to get the horses to the track. Ascot was called off the other day due to waterlogging! Soft?. When doing the cards we have to work on what the clerks say; it has turned out to be absolute rubbish, day in, day out.

It is not just myself. Other pros I am working with have also never had it so tough! We are professionals and the last few weeks have been a joke, the flat at the moment is a lottery! The courses though are stitching everyone up! Watching Racing UK they cant drive on the grass it is that bad! The form book is pointless at the moment. Three races on Thursday started with flag starts.

Its not the fault of the tracks that the weather is monsoon-like but for heaven’s sake don’t insult our intelligence – look at Ripon today, its a total and utter joke!

I  will be avoiding the flat for a few days, hope York is run on decent ground!

Ballymac Sally Will Go To Ballymac Ace

Our bitch Ballymac Sally will be retired when she breaks in season and she will go to the recently retired Ballymac Ace. He was some dog, and I saw that first had as he won the Joe Hardy Memorial at Sunderland, absolutely destroying a quality field, that included our fella!

This is what Chris Allsopp said on his Blog about Ballymac Ace:

Ballymac Ace (Ace Hi Rumble x Ballymac Mir) had 71 races in his career with us winning 31. He never once ran in graded company and won at twelve different tracks at distances varying from 305 to 480 metres. His greatest moments came when he won the 2010 Pall Mall and the 2011 East Anglian Derby. Throughout his career it seemed he reached all the big finals on Sky.

Here is a clip I was able to find of Ballymac Ace winning Live on Sky:

He has speed and hopefully the stamina from the Dam Line will make for decent pups! Can’t wait. I will let you know how we get on!

Ballybrook To Make Viking Debut on Sunday at Kinsley

We have two runners on at Kinsley on Sunday. Consistency and Ballybrook will run for us. It is a very good card, with three opens on and it will not be easy!

Ballybrook - Top Class Stayer

Ballybrook takes on Course record holder Nifty Crash and Bowtime Joey who is a good dog! Our chap had a sprint trial last week and went 16:38. Thats a very good time for a sprinter, never mind a stayer! This dog will be a very good addition to the kennel!

Probably won’t back him, but will be there and our Superstar Consistency is on the bill too! He is up against a seriously good dog of Elaine Parker’s but he literally owes us nothing! I love Consistency and if he wins here it will be amazing!

Can’t Wait for Sunday!

Chester and York, Always Great meetings

Chester and York are always great meetings, for me though there is no better place than York Racecourse.

York in the Sunshine is Superb

I love the Dante Meeting; until Workforce no horse beaten in the Dante had gone on to win the Derby, but he had a fair excuse, the bit slipped. I have seen some good horses with the Dante. Of Course we have also the Musidora Stakes. Next week is York and I can’t wait. This week is Chester and the Chester Cup, but for me this is a tough meeting, especially with the ground this year, it will be tough!

I am also looking forward to Sunday where we should be running a few dogs, including Ballybrook who is our new top class stayer! I will let you know how entries go, but if you fancy Dog Racing, Kinsley on a Sunday is the place. The lunch is second to none, its superb and the atmosphere is wonderful. It is what a Yorkshire greyhound track should be like. Having been at Doncaster Greyhound Stadium and then Kinsley let me tell you there is no comparison. Doncaster charge you to get in as an owner to watch your dogs, Kinsley on the other hand feed you like Kings! Lovely people too at Kinsley – Highly recommended.  Couldn’t be more different to Donny, which is sad really seeing how bad that place has become.

Might see you at York this week or Kinsley at the Weekend ?

Double Delight at Sunderland

Consistency Wins by 5 Lengths and Magna Fiddler Opens Account….

It was a great night at Sunderland with two advised bets winning Greyhound Scene Opens in great style.  The Jim Hayton trained Magna Fiddler won in the stayers event. I said on the Podcast that this dog had improved out of hand since Jim got him and thus it proved. Advised as a bet he took it up early and was never passed! Well done Jim Hayton.

Consistency the superstar did it again, but he didn’t just win he destroyed them, winning by 5 lengths and landing some serious bets! What a seriously good dog and his record for us is sensational. Check his form here.

Consistency has now won four races for us in two months and ran an amazing 27.16 secs (calc 27.26) which is his best ever and a top class run. We will now head for the £25,000 William Hill Classic at Sunderland, which he loves!

Big Weekend Ahead at Newmarket

Its a Big Weekend, the 2000 Guineas on Saturday and the 1000 Guineas on Sunday. The horse I am most looking forward to is CAMELOT. Remember the Racing Post Trophy last year?

Absolutely bolted up! Made some Group One horses look like selling platers. But we saw similar with St. Nicholas Abbey in the past and there is a doubt on the ground. Stats are against him, but I was absolutely gob-smacked by what we saw in the RP Trophy. I would say if he runs his race he will take some beating. Of course Sea The Stars, the greatest horse certainly I have ever seen runs, can he emulate his brother?

Sunday is the 1000 Guineas. Maybe is by far the best filly in the race, but the ground could be her undoing. In my view Aidan O’Brien will win both. Camelot is the one I want to see.

Personally I will be off to the dogs! We have Burlington Jude running in the 17-44 at Newcastle. She has a chance, still young and inexperienced.

We have three on at Sunderland Saturday night.

  • Viking Cheryl
  • Magna Fiddler
  • Consistency

I think we will have a good night at Sunderland!

Ballybrook Joins Viking

Viking Greyhound Betting Tips

Ballybrook - Top Class Stayer

Viking Racing have bought Ballybrook, a top class staying dog who will go in to training with Debbie Clavert (attached to Newcastle).

We have some VERY EXCITING DOGS and it should be a big year for Viking Racing. Ballybrook will have a trial soon and will then be targeted at staying Open Races, possibly at Kinsley in 15th May.

The Blog Is Back

I am sorry for being a bit lazy in updating the blog! The weather in April has somewhat dampened my enthusiasm, quite literally. Hopefully now though, as we approach Guineas weekend, the worst of the weather is behind us.

We have been busy and have made a major signing to Telewin who will be heading up our MAXIMUM BETS Service. The 321 System has been rebranded as Gold Bets and the first four months of 2012 have delivered a profit. We have also launched JH Tipster, there is so much going on.

Our dogs are running well and It should be a big year for Viking Racing. We are getting a few lined up for some serious punts AND we have invested in a few pups. We have also put a bitch in pup to Windy Millar. This weekend we have three runners at Sunderland.

  • Viking Cheryl
  • Magna Fiddler
  • Consistency

All run in opens. The dogs have good chances but poor Cheryl is up against some Hot pot and really has been given no chance. I will be there and I think we will have a winner, I will be having a decent bet.

I promise to keep the blog going from now on!
